Crispy Pork Belly

Quick and easy recipe to prepare especially for those on the journey to release weight and heal from chronic disease. The recipe is low in carbohydrates and helps tame the insulin monster hormone which is responsible for building and storage in the body. Delicious recipe with minimal ingredients. The vegetables are given a beautiful golden colour from the turmeric with its amazing many benefits.

Just the way nature Intended

INGREDIENTS (serves 2)

  • 4 pork belly slices

  • 200 grams cabbage finely chopped

  • 1 courgette sliced

  • 1 onion

  • 2 carrots

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 tablespoons lard or butter/ghee


  • Preheat oven to 200 degrees C. Gas mark 6

  • Mix cayenne and black pepper and rub mixture over pork belly slices

  • Place the pork in a tray and cook in oven for 45 minutes until skin is crispy

  • Turn pork over half way through

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add carrots and cook for 5 minutes

  • Add turmeric, onion, courgette, cabbage and mix thoroughly

  • Cook for a further 5 minutes stirring.

  • Add salt lastly

  • Serve vegetables with crispy pork belly slices

  • Make sure cabbage remains crispy and crunchy
