Scrummy Smoked Mackerel Veges

Mackerel is one of the scrummiest, cheapest and plentiful dish to have. Loaded with Vitamin B12, proteins and omega-3 fatty acids and all essential for immune and nervous system function.

Just the way nature intended

INGREDIENTS (serves 4)

  • 500 grams smoked mackerel

  • 1 red bell pepper (sliced)

  • 1 yellow pepper (sliced)

  • 1 red onion (finely chopped)

  • 4 garlic cloves (crushed)

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (grated)

  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme

  • Herbs of your choice

  • 1 cup water

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 Tablespoons cooking oil ( coconut oil. ghee, butter, duck fat, tallow, lard, palm oil)


  • Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat

  • Fry onions until translucent

  • Add garlic and ginger

  • Add bell peppers, salt and pepper

  • Add mackerel and thyme and mix thoroughly

  • Add water and simmer for 5-8 minutes

  • Your scrummy smoked mackerel veges are ready to serve with a carbohydrate of your choice. I had mine with boiled yam
